Cycle to work scheme.

The Cycle To Work Scheme was established by the UK Government in 2000 to encourage people to use a bicycle as a way of travelling to work, helping ease congestion, reduce pollution and improve employees fitness.

As an employee of a business which participates in the Cycle Scheme, you can buy a bike and accessories through your employer. All the taxes including VAT and National Insurance, are deducted.

You can get out on your new bike very quickly. In order to pay back the amount owed to your employer, a 'salary deduction' is taken from your monthly wage over aperiod of 12-18 months. At the end of this time the employer can offer workers the facility to buy the cycle, at fair market price (usually less than 4% of the hire agreement amount).

If you are looking to purchase a bicycle through this scheme or need any further advice or assistance then we would recommend that you contact Slane Cycles at www.slanecycles.com in Belfast. They can be reached by email at info@slanecycles.com or on the phone at 02890 600040 during normal office hours.

Let them know that you found them on the Belfast Northern Ireland website when you conatct them about your new bike.
